Selena Gomez’s ‘Best Friend Forever’ Francia Raisa Donated Kidneys To Save Her

Recently Selena Gomez’s fans were very surprised by a news shared officially on her Instagram that she had a kidney transplant donated by her best friend Francia Raisa. This is the process of the female singer treating kidney failure caused by complications of lupus.

Last summer, Selena Gomez “disappeared” from the entertainment industry. Some people believe that she is depressed while others assert that the 25-year-old singer is a “secluded retreat” to compose music. Recently, the cause of her silence has finally been revealed thanks to her post on Instagram. Selena wrote: “I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of,so I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering.”

The ‘Same old love’ singer also expressed that she was looking forward to sharing more with her fans about her transplant journey, but in the meantime she wanted to thank her ‘Best friend forever’ Francia Raisa and her health team. She said: “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”

Accompanied with Selena’s post is a photo of her and Raisa holding hands while lying side by side on the hospital bed, and another photo shows the scar on her stomach. Francia Raisa is 29 years old this year, famous for her role in the movie ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’ on ABC Life.

Selena Gomez was diagnosed with Lupus glomerulonephritis in 2015 and has spent a lot of time resting, dealing with panic attacks and depression. It was reported that Selena’s kidney was damaged prior to surgery. In May 2017, when Selena was at a concert with The Weeknd in Chicago (USA), she was urgently hospitalized because her kidneys were getting weaker and Selena was on the list of kidney transplants.

According to AP, Lupus glomerulonephritis accounts for about 60-75% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. In the long term, the disease leads to end-stage renal failure, dialysis cycle or kidney transplantation.
